Islay Legend Profile

Blended Scotch Whisky

Morrison’s Islay Legend was one of several blends produced by Morrison Bowmore Distillers during the 1990s. Bottled at eight years of age and with a high malt content (50%) from Bowmore distillery, Islay Legend had quality in spades but never became a prominent brand for its owner.

During its short life, Islay Legend was exported to European markets and was popular in France.

Islay Legend History

Another dormant brand languishing in the Beam Suntory locker, Islay Legend was created in the early 1990s around the time Japanese group Suntory had taken a stake in Morrison Bowmore Distillers.

In 1993, 25 bottles of a 30-year-old expression were produced for a celebratory dinner on the 30th anniversary of Stanley P Morrison Ltd’s purchase of Bowmore distillery in 1963.
