Introduction to Whisky Nosing.
A guide on how to appreciate single malt whiskies with Fiona Murdoch of
The Whisky Shop. Basic nosing and tasting techniques practiced on a variety
of single malts from all over Scotland, including Auchentoshan, Glen Moray,
Balmenach, Old Pulteney and Lagavulin. (£4.50 per person).

Special Distillery Tour
- by bus starting from Dufftown with pick-ups in Aberlour and Craigellachie
and featuring three distilleries not normally open to the public (£5).
A rare chance to visit Dailuaine, Benrinnes and Speyburn distilleries plus
a special tour and nosing at The Macallan.

Tour of Balvenie Distillery
and Maltings, one of the last operating maltings on Speyside (£2).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - Autumn Whiskies. A specialist talk on whiskies
particularly suitable for the Fall with Norwegian whisky connoisseur Per
Lovlie and featuring five unusual single malts (£7.50) - Old Pulteney,
Strathisla, Talisker, Aberlour cask strength and Bowmore Darkest.

International Malt Whisky
Nosing Competition, Round One at The Highlander Inn, Craigellachie. Try
to identify a dozen single malts by nose alone. Trophies for teams of four
and for individual entrant (£1 per person, £4 per team) - prizegiving
on Monday.

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Duftown - A Speyside Walk. A ramble by glass through some
of the exciting single malts produced along the banks of the famous River
Spey featuring at least five different whiskies (£7.50) - including
Aberlour, Dailuaine, Benriach, Tamdhu and Longmorn.

Speyside Whisky Festival
Opening Party, the square, Dufftown. Switch-on of festival lights, fireworks,
pipe band and a free dram for everyone who attends (free).

Ceilidh, Commercial Hotel,
Dufftown. An evening of Scottish music, song and dance to watch and take
part in (£4).

Traditional Dramming Games.
Royal British Legion. Includes Bowl-a-bottle, Guess the label, dram
quiz, spot the still. Interval songs by local singer Ealeen Strathdee.
Teams of four, chosen at random, amazing prizes. Admission £3.

Golf: The Chivas Regal Scramble
Open, Dufftown Golf Club, a challenging 18 hole course which features the
highest hole in Scotland (and great views!).
10am-5pm
Craft Fair, Memorial Hall,
Dufftown. A large display of local and traditional crafts, plus a
rare display of a unique collection of model trucks, many of them bearing
whisky logos (£1). Also featuring the International Malt Whisky Nosing
Competition - a chance to try to identify a variety of Speyside single
malts by nose alone (£1 entry per person, £4 per team of four).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - The Independent Bottlers. A chance to try a variety
of single malts from the independent bottlers who offer an alternative
taste to the distilleries own label. Seven whiskies to experience, including
some at cask strength versions of Craigellachie from Scotts and Cadenheads,
regular strength Imperial from Gordon & Macphail and Signatory, Glenrothes
from Berry Brothers, Deerstalker from Aberfoyle and Knight and Leapfrog
from Murray McDavid, with guest speaker David Stirk of Whisky Magazine.
(£15.50 per person).

Special Bus Tour of Dufftown
Famous Seven Stills. Sit back and relax as the bus takes you around the
distilleries which make the Malt Whisky Capital so special, with a dram
at each (£5).
1.30pm & 3pm
The Whisky Train.
Take a journey on the newly re-opened section of the Keith-Dufftown railway
with a dram to keep you company. Volunteers have been restoring this preserved
railway line and it is now open as far as Drummuir Station. A Dufftown
dram will be given to start the journey at Dufftown's restored station
and a Keith dram will be poured at the other end for the return journey.
Special fare for a special journey over the Parkmore viaduct and along
picturesque Loch Park £4 (discounts for KDRA members). (Trains
will also make the hour round trip at 11am, 12noon and 4.30pm at £3
for adults; discounts for children and KDRA members Saturday and Sunday.

Guided Heritage Tour of
Dufftown - leaving Dufftown Tower at 2pm on foot. Why did the Excise fail
to spot the secret still in Dufftown's centre? On which local ground were
Denmark beaten 1-0 by Scotland? What brought an Irishman to Dufftown half
a millennium before William the Conqueror landed? Find the answers to these
and other questions on this incredible tour. Distance 1.5 miles/2km, return
3.30pm, everyday footwear OK (£2.50).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown. - Port Finishes. The current trend for different
wood finished whiskies is explored through testing out five of the port
woods from Glen Moray, Cragganmore, Balvenie, Bowmore and Glenmorangie.

International Malt Whisky
Nosing Competition, Round Two, The Mash Tun, Aberlour. Another chance to
try your hand at the incredibly difficult art of identifying single malts
by nose alone. Enter as an individual or as a team of four (£1 per
person, £4 per team).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - Cask Strength Whiskies. David Stirk of Whisky
Magazine takes you through some of the cask strength bottlings currently
on offer under distillery labelling, including Glenfarclas 105, Macallan
100% proof, Balvenie and Glenfiddich 15 year olds, Aberlour's A'Bunadh
and Laphroaig. (£12.50 per person).

Scotchwhisky.com Dinner
and Tasting at Innes House, Elgin. Guest industry experts will introduce
whiskies for tasting before, during and after the dinner. Advance booking

Craft Fair, Memorial Hall,
Dufftown. Second day of local and traditional activities and including
a rare exhibition of model trucks, many of them bearing whisky logos. (£1)
Also featuring the International Malt Whisky Nosing Competition - a chance
to try the art of whisky nosing.

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - The Water of Life. A fascinating insight into the
importance of water to the whisky making process with geologist and whisky
enthusiast Dr Steve Cribb. Illustrated with a wide variety of single malts,
mixed with various waters from different souces. (£12.50).

The Alternative Nosing &
Tasting. That other Scottish Crauter 'the haggis' a session not to be missed
Small charge includes an accompaniment of neeps & tatties and a dram.
Join in the fun and compete for the prestigious Highlander Haggis Trophy
won last year by Ahmed Gedik from Turkey.

The Whisky Train - a hour
journey along the newly-restored railway line which runs between Dufftown
and Keith. Return journey starts from Dufftown station and returns
from Drummuir Station taking in the Parkmore viaduct and picturesque Loch
Park.( £4 per person) (Trains also run at 11am, 12noon and 4.30pm
with tickets at £3).

Guided Heritage Walk to
an Illicit Still site. Starting from Dufftown Tower and on foot. Discover
the secret glen where generations ago our determined ancestors fooled the
law to distil and smuggle their famed whisky. Stout footwear and waterproofs
recommended. Distance 3 miles/5km in open hill country. Return 5.30pm (some
transport provided) (£3.50 or £3 with own car).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - Macallan Thru' The Ages. A chance to try one of
Speyside's best-loved single malts at a variety of different ages, from
the standard 10 year old to rare bottlings from the 1950s and 1960s. (£20
per person).
4pm-6pm
International Malt Whisky
Nosing Competition, Round Three - this time the nosing event moves to the
village of Rothes, where it will be held in the Visitor Centre on the High
Street (opposite Glenrothes Distillery) - £1 entry for individuals,
£4 for teams of four.
7pm
Beer Tasting Party, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown. Take a break from the whisky and sample more than
20 real Scottish ales from the growing number of small breweries springing
up all over Scotland, with live folk music and Cookery Demonstration featuring
Cairn O'Mhor Scottish Fruit Wines. (£2.50).

Distillery. A chance to visit this popular Speyside distillery every hour
on the half-hour for a special festival tour. No booking required. Free.

Whisky Talk & Taste,
The Whisky Shop, Duftown - The Closed Distilleries. A trip around Scotland
by glass visiting some of the single malts from distilleries now closed
for good and whose product will shortly become unavailable as stock run
out . Includes Convalmore, Dallas Dhu, Port Ellen, Glenlochy, Rosebank
and Imperial.(£17.50 per person).

Special Bus Today's trip
will take you to Knockando, Auchroisk and Strathmill distilleries, which
do not normally allow visitors with a dram at each (£5).
11am-1pm
International Malt Whisky
Nosing Competition, Final Round and Prizegiving, The Commercial Hotel,
Dufftown. Last chance to go for the trophies in this fun-to-try competition
to become the Nose of the Year (£1 entry for individual, £4
for teams of four).

Tour of Balvenie Distillery
and Maltings, one of the last maltings remaining on Speyside (£2).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - Whisky Liqueurs. A chance to try some of the growing
number of whisky liqueurs now on offer, including six clear liqueurs such
as those from Glenfiddich and Old Pulteney distilleries, Wallace, Atholl
Brose, Hebridean and Stag's Breath, as well as two cream liqueurs,
Heather and Columba Cream. (£5.50 per person).

Whisky Talk and Taste, The
Whisky Shop, Dufftown - The Final Dram. Last chance to try some interesting
and unusual single malts in a tutored tasting with connoisseur Per Lovlie.
- Including Glen Moray 16 Glenfarclas 15, Glenmorangie 18, Bowmore 17 and
Ardbeg 17. ( £10 per person).

Special Meals at The Taste
of Speyside (Gala dinner Saturday only), Tannochbrae, La Faisanderie (in

The Mash Tun also offer a wide choice of real ales.
