Malt of the Month
Glengoyne 10 Year Old

A fresh, delicate nose and a light golden colour indicates lightness and subtlety. A refined, well balanced malt scotch whisky in taste, made all the more rewarding by its unpeated style and light, complex taste.

Tasting Notes:
Appearance: Medium golden tones, clear and bright
Nose: Rich malt aroma with hints of oak, apple and sherry
Palate: Smooth and unpeated; oak and apples with a long clean fruity finish

The Distillery
What distinguishes Glengoyne is the distillery uses only specially selected unpeated malt. Only naturally malted barley is used, which ensures that the other elements of Glengoyne Malt Whisky are allowed to express themselves more fully without the flavour of peat smoke dominating the final product.

Ian Taylor, Glengoyne's distillery manager, goes to great lengths to ensure that no single flavour dominates. The result is a delicately balanced whisky with a fresh, slightly fruity nose, a light to medium body and a clean, slightly sweet taste.

Distillery Information
Glengoyne Distillery was established in 1833 and lies in a wooded glen on the western edge of the Campsie Fells, not far from Loch Lomond. It is one of the most attractively sited in Scotland, with a pretty waterfall plunging into the natural hollow which forms the distillery's dam. It retains many of its 19th century features, and its layout is well adapted to viewing the distilling process.

The Highland Line, which notionally divided Highland from Lowland Scotland, runs through the distillery grounds. Glengoyne is the southernmost Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky which results in a fresher and lighter taste due to the milder, natural climate in the area. About one third of the output is matured in sherry casks.
