I married an Acadian girl (she is from old French stock that remained in Acadie — New-Brunswick — after the deportation. Anyway, We often joke a lot about her coming from a very small seashore town, and the fact that she is known (as a joke of course) to be the Empress of all Acadias. And Cecilia loves Laphroaig. I even believe it is her favourite single malt. So, we always say that Laphroaig is the official Empress of all Acadias Scotch whisky, and the fact that it has one hell of a caracter (though I beleive it would gain by going 43% instead of 40%) and tastes strongly of seaweed and phenol only reaffirms it is a single malt reserved mostly for the initiated.
