Balvenie has class. And I mean Class. If The Macallan is considered to be the RR of Scotches, it is my humble opinion that The Balvenie Founder's Reserve is much more cushionny and yet has much more flavour, probably because of its wonderful spicyness. It would read something like «I am bold yet gentle. I am the perfect balance between earth and sky.» Balvenie is an absolute perfection if you seek calm whyle your senses are flowing high. Balvenie Double Wood is delicious, but I must admit that the Single Barrel hits the spot for me as being one of the most gorgeous of all Scotch whiskies. It has caracter (no kidding!) and still, its complexity is astonishing. When it is time to get «the right stuff for the right people», at two or three in the morning, the Single Barrel is THE one. And its caracter is never deterred by a good cigar to make the conversation start again...
