I have recently tried the Caol Isla "rare malts": A very nice experience, though I have yet to make a direct tasting comparison with other Islay malt. I find it very intense, with lots of salt, and with less peat that most Islay whiskies. Takes quite a lot of water to "loosen up". I havent had the time for a "second encounter" yet, but I am looking forward to it...
