Greetings ! To the best of my knowledge, GM first released Port Wood Finish in late 1994. These were 700 ml bottles, and there were probably 2000 marketed. Soon thereafter, there was a release of Madeira finish. Followed by Tain L'Hermitage. The latest release is Sherry. Company literature indicates that these are held (racked is the term used)in American Oak (What's That?) for about 12 yrs, then in the selected barrels (for Port Wood read "pipes")for about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs. Availability : GM are marketing the wood finishes quite agressively. Every tatty boozeria in Soho (London) is window showing the woods. Of course you can get them via Milroy's and Oddbins. Since Autumn 1996, the wood finishes are available at BOTH Heathrow Terminal 1 duty free shops, in 1 liter sizes. Price about 30 sterling. All the above does not apply to Tain' L'Hermitage finish, which I have not been able to locate anywhere since late '95. Tasting notes to follow if this transmits OK. Ralph
