Greetings Joshua ! Welcome to the group. As you will have seen, I just can't seem to enjoy that typical Islay taste. Believe me, I've tried, but if whisky was Lagavulin, I'd shift to orange juice. In descending order of horribleness : Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig 10, Talisker 10(Skye), Bowmore 12. Someone in one of the groups wrote that Islay's respond well to ageing. Hence the Bowmore presentation pack (J'burg Duty free, less than $33) 200 ml each of "Legend" (actually a light diesel oil) useful for starting bonfires, barbecues and cleaning components, 12 yr old (tongue-curdling), 17 yr old (smoothed out, very tasty), 21 yr (Excellent - ranks with the best), 25 yr old (unconditionally superb). On that basis, I'm prepared to try Laphroaig 15 - when I can find it!
