Chris asked:
Why do some people turn a new bottle of Scotch Whiskey upside down
before opening?
Charlie Says:
Dear Chris,
I have not come across this. In the old days, experienced drinkers would shake the
bottle vigorously and judge the 'beading' - the foam which gathers in the neck. This
gave an indication of alcoholic strength and 'texture': 'the heavier the beading, the
better
the whisky', was the rule of thumb.
