Nancy barrows asked:
Hi, about 20 years ago my father worked on a fishing boat off cape cod,
massachusetts. One day they dragged up a crate of FOUR ACES WHISKY in about 50
feet of water. All the bottles broke because of pressure but one. Is this bottle worth
anything?
THANK YOU!!
Charlie Says:
Dear Nancy,
I have never heard of 'Four Aces', and my reference books are silent on the brand.
Your story is a good one, and is good provenance for an auction catalogue. I bet it
was
jetisoned during Prohibition while it was being smuggled into the U.S. If I remember
correctly, there was quite a bit of smuggling activity around Cape Cod in the 1920s.
Does the surviving bottle still have its label? What kind of a cork/stopper has it?
What is
the level of the liquor in the bottle - above the shoulders? Check these out, then

Best wishes,
